International expert-talk on the occasion of the Play Fair Code's 10th anniversary
In a review of Play Fair Code's work and development, two panels discussed and examined the status-quo in the fight against match-fixing and betting fraud, current challenges and possible future scenarios, both from a national and international perspective.
The panel discussions with national and international speakers, plus numerous renowned experts from Austria and beyond – including representatives of sports ministries, from the IOC, UEFA, Interpol, the Council of Europe, and the Austrian Football Association – was broadcast live on ORF Sport+.
Quotes from the Talks:
“Manipulation and betting fraud are among the greatest risks to sport, which should really be acting as a role model for society.”
(Werner Kogler, Vice Chancellor and Sports-Minister )
“As you know we are facing organized crime. We need to come up with a more comprehensive approach and work all together to be as strong and robust as possible all together.”
(Vincent Ven, Head of UEFA Integrity Unit)
“It’s something unique. You do not have something like Play Fair Code all over Europe or worldwide and this is really something that should be a lighthouse for others to follow.”
(Andreas Krannich, Managing Dir. Sportradar Integrity Services)
"The great appeal of football is that you don't know how a match will end. Match-fixing destroys far, far more than people can imagine."
